Well, it's over

Well, it's a year and a half since I was rear-ended and I am still not back to my former self. My neck doesn't turn to the right very far and I have an achy shoulder. The accident was six months after my titanium shoulder replacement and there was significant soft tissue damage in that shoulder. The moral of this story is not to text while driving. The woman who hit me was the sweetest eighteen year old who thought she could text and drive at the same time!

I have Firefly and Tangerine. My other adult females have been placed in amazing retirement homes. Their new owners keep in touch and send great photos. I visited Freia at her new home in St Stephen. She landed in a tub of butter! She is greatly loved and spoiled by the Phillips family.

Tangerine is as wild as ever and she keeps me laughing. Firefly is a bedbug. I miss breeding terribly! Thank you all for the friendship and the care over the years. If you are in Fredericton, give me a call. My email is simplyrosehimalayans@gmail.com

Lovely news from Claudine in Grand Falls

Hello Patricia,
I just wanted to send you a recent photo of Boo (on the left) and Kuhlau (on the right).
They are my morning greeters. This picture was taken of them on my bed this morning.
They are two rays of sunshine and are so affectionate and sweet.
I am so pleased with their behavior. They are affectionate and social . Not at all standoffish like some cats.
Boo follows me around like a shadow, and Kuhlau, being still a bit of a kitten, likes to chase me around hopping on 2 legs in the hopes that I will chase him right back.
I often find myself laughing at their antics and as you see in the picture, they get along fine.
I love my kittens, and would not hesitate to recommend getting them from you to anyone who asks.
I hope you have a great Summer !
Claudine

Chanel and Tiffany Cormier

Chanel is the lovely blue cream Persian very similar to my Sarah Brightman. Tiffany, a Himalayan is behind Chanel. They do look to be playing with grapes on the counter.

My Tangerine really would like to get up on my counter, but we have come to a compromise. She is allowed to sit on the open dishwasher door. It makes her feel just a bit deviant!

These two girls love to travel to Charlottetown and stay in a hotel.

They have their faces washed and they are brushed morning and evening. They are the hit of the Cormier household.

The gardens were so lush when I got home

I was just gone a week but when I came home I was surprised. The hydrangea and ferns at the front were huge.

Khal moved right in while I was gone - the cats sure loved that!

My bedroom and the cat's outside deck are on the second floor of the turret.

This is the year of the Hosta - they have grown like bad weeds. Actually, Hosta is part of the plantain family!

My sweet niece came from NS for a week

We went to visit Cindy and John Eagles. They own three of my cats. Here Breanna is patting Fawcett while Doodle is waiting in line for some attention.

Cindy and John also own Rocky. He is the same colour as Fawcett but bigger!

Breanna stayed for the month of July last year. She has really grown and is certainly mature for an eleven year old. We had a great week.

Life was good until the baby came to visit!

Tangerine has stuck to me like a burr since I came home from vacation in Nova Scotia. She is just the best!

She is hanging out with me while I read. She will do this for hours without complaint when I do book work or read.

- and then along came Clara! She fell asleep in my arms - Tangerine was miffed. Clara took Tangerine's spot.

Clara is eight months old now. She is the daughter of my friends Sam Tucker and Drew Walters. Since my car accident last November I can't pick her up. She is sixteen pounds. Before my accident, I could easily pick up fifty pounds. It's so disappointing.

My darling Plum

Her CFA registered name is 'Simply Rose He Put in His Thumb'. She is a cream tabby Persian with copper eyes. She is a lovely show quality female.

I don't show my cats. I used to many years ago, but I'm over it. I showed my cats mostly on the eastern seaboard of  the US and they did very well. It was very expensive to do, but it was a great and fun hobby.

Now, I am more concerned with the welfare of all cats, especially cats and kittens with no owners. It's a better way to spend your money! Ca-R-Ma is the best volunteer group for the spay/neuter of cats with no owners.

Plum is the mother of Lily (who I originally called Anne). Below is an email from Lily"s owners!

My dear cousins Kathleen Luddington Downie and Floyd Downie

Kathleen and Floyd came for a visit. They always end up with a cat! Firefly loves to be brushed. When I groom her tummy she lifts a front leg way up so I can brush under her arm! It's so cute.

Here is Floyd with Tangerine on his shoulder.

Tangerine always cuddles with my friend Tammy McCrea

Tangerine loves everyone, including visitors.  Her body language is different if she has a personal bond with someone. You can really see that she knows Tammy and she really likes Tammy too.

Carmen Gonzalez and Plum

Carmen and Mariam Taylor come every Thursday morning to play with the cats. Miriam is the daughter of my old friend Rosemary Clews.

Rosie taught at STU for a number of years. She was one our Raging Grannies in the Fredericton Gaggle! Rosemary passed away unexpectedly last year.

Miriam is the biggest 'cat lover' I have ever met. She just loves them! She is playing with Natalie Dessay. It's three straws stuck together.

Prince and Angel - so cute!

John and Dorina Brown got two new housemates last year. Prince is on the left - note that neutered males are larger than spayed females.

The Browns are enjoying them.

Harry Potter playing in his red tunnel!

This is Harry. He is best friend to Sandy Zelazny. He got a new red tunnel to play in - Sandy took this photo from the 'other end'!

He is a black tabby Persian with copper eyes.

Clementine, a Christmas Eve placement

Meet Clementine, much loved pet of Will and Vanessa McArthur.

Vanessa called around noon on Christmas Eve Day to say that none of her son's Christmas gifts had  arrived in time to put under the tree for Christmas morning. Besides, he really wanted a kitten.

Everything you read will tell you not to place companion animals during   the Christmas season and I agree. However, this Christmas Eve placement was 'made in heaven'. Their home was not busy during the holiday season. Will and his mom arrived in the early evening to see the little one. It was love at first sight for Will! Clementine went to her new family on Christmas Eve. It was a wonderful experience for me, the McArthurs and the kitten!

Anne is the sweetest little thing

Here she is freshly bathed - I used a 2 cup glass measuring cup, warm water and Khal's shampoo! That's all I could find at the resort.

We were at the 65th Maritimes Y's The Summerside Club did a great job as hosts.

The kitten came with us - formula and bottles, heating pad and  bed. She loved it. I think she doubled her weight in the 3 days we were there! When we got home he mom, Plum, welcomed her with open arms. Plum cleans and cuddles with her, however Plum refuses to nurse her. She seems to feel it's just not okay to do all that work when there is only one baby in the litter!

Check us out online to see what  we are ujp to this spring and what events and fundraisers we are planning for the coming  months. On a visit to Fredericton earlier this month, the CEO of the Canadian Federation of Humane  Societies remarked that the cat overpopulation crisis is "a community issue." CA-R-MA  Fredericton has now sponsored spay/neuter surgery and vaccines for 3,500 unowned cats in  Greater Fredericton. Community support made this possible. Thank you! Finally, we have one new baby born to Plum

Plum only had one little babe - a girl cream tabby Persian. She will look just like Plum when she is an adult.

Other litters are on the way!

- sorry the photo is sideways

BlackBerry

It's not fair. I took this photo the correct 'way up'. My BlackBerry seems to turn my photos sideways once in a while. Thank goodness my friend Kal fixed it.

I love my BlackBerry!
Canadian designed and owned, BlackBerry. QNX developed the software used on the International Space Station. It's a Canadian dream come true. NASA, nuclear power plants, and the Pentagon use Canadian software from BlackBerry. It's also used for medical instruments and Porsche cars.
President Obama uses a BlackBerry because it's the only operating system that can't be hacked!
Unfortunately the operating system is so good the drug dealers use BlackBerry!

This post was supposed to be about walking home from the Playhouse last evening and taking pictures in the dark!

Above is our NB Legislature and below is my home.

Michel Plourde is our fabulous maintenance/repairer person

Michel has worked here for many years now. He didn't like cats when he first started work here, but now he is smitten!

The cats love him! He is putting together an over-the-door clothes hanger and he is  getting lots of help.

Cat naps are for people too!

Natalie is napping in her tent. The sun shines in the three huge bay windows and on to the tent. She loves it.

Khal is having a nap before we head out to the Playhouse. Ballet Jorgen from Toronto is performing Swan Lake.

This is the only baby we will see in April!

I am so sad not to have babies now. It's going to be in May when babies are born. I was sure they would be born in April.

When Clara visits the cats are all near her. They just adore babies and children.

I can't find that darn lint brush that's in the bottom of the photo. Man!

A sleeping Dragon - it sounds like a fairy tale title!

Dragon likes to be covered up when he sleeps. This blue goose down coverlet is at the bottom of my bed. He burrows under it to have a nap.

He is such a sweet boy.

I love him!

Sarah Brightman is so attached to Khal - she is rubbing his shirt with her nose! As soon as his sits down, she is right there. The eye contact is so cute. She stares at him and she doesn't even blink!

Sarah Brightman is pregnant but she will be a few more weeks. I am so disappointed. I thought kittens would be born in April. She is definitely a May!

She is standing on my new Windows 8 touchscreen computer. I am having a hard time learning all the new things on it. We sure aren't friends yet!

Oh that Tangerine

She really likes Drew (actually anyone will do). She just loves house guests.

Drew is tickling her back. She would stay with him for the whole visit.

Here she is with Clara, Drew's two month old baby. She is getting right in Clara's carrier. Tangerine loved the way Clara smelled. She sniffed and sniffed the baby and her clothes and carrier.

Natalie has started her Easter egg hunt a bit early!

Natalie Dessay is the sweetest thing. She is standing on the edge of a chair and has her nose in my plant.

Some cats like to dig in the earth of house plants. I buy decorative rocks and put them completely around the plant. Then there is no temptation.

Natalie will have a late spring litter of kittens.

Paula Seward sent photos and a note from Moncton

Hi Patricia,

Hope things are well!

Just checking in to see if you will have any kittens available this spring?

Giovanni is doing just great and he has simply taken over our home, thought I’d send along a few photos!  We just love this little guy, he’s so funny and has the sweetest personality.

Have a very Happy Easter!

Columbo seems to be taking notes!

This sweet little cream tabby Persian kitten lives with the McFawns and his special cat friend, Eleanor Rigby.

He was born late last summer. He is a hit at his house. Khal and I went to visit - what a ham he is. He is affectionate with everyone and is laid back and mellow.

Anne says he lives up to his name - he is taking notes while watching a crime show on TV!

Anne with Eleanor Rigby and Columbo. She is smitten with these two cats!

Friea the babysitter! Clara loves it.

Friea wants to learn to babysit. My cats love babies and children of all ages. The cats are trustworthy and kind to babies.

Little Clara came to visit - the cats were delighted!

Clara is just two months old. Her parents are my friends, Samantha Tucker and Drew Walters. The cats were enchanted. Tangerine piled into Clara's carrier (with Clara in it!), Firefly was wide-eyed and Friea was almost ready to crawl in with her too.

My baby boy is getting so big!

Dragon, my beautiful baby boy, is getting so big that he spills out of his tent when he has a nap! He loves to sleep in the sun.

Sandy is giving Tangerine a 'mohawk'

Tangerine just sat there while Sandy (our housekeeper extraordinaire/friend/tenant/owner of Harry the Persian) spiked her hair. Tangerine says she didn't notice, but I know that she did!

Parsifal at The Met curtain call

This is bass Rene Pape taking his bow after the Opera. It came live transmission HD from The Met to Empire Theatre. It was an epic and Wagner's last Opera (5 hours and 45 minutes).

Kathleen and Floyd Downie came to visit

They are wonderful cousins from the Annapolis Valley on their way to Ontario. Khal and I had breakfast with them and then we went to the Boyce Farmers Market.

Kathy brushed Firefly for at least fifteen minutes. Firefly was in heaven!
Tangerine immediately latched on to Floyd. She loves visitors, but she remembers the Downies from other visits.

Dragon is joined to me at the hip!

He keeps his paw on the top of my tablet while I am watching a movie on NetFlix! He can't get close enough!

He is the cutest thing ever.

Donnie and Dianne Phillips came to visit the cats

I got such a kick out of Dianne picking up Plum. No one ever picks her up - not even me! Plum's look says "would you pick up your grandmother, then put me down!"

Look at the look on Plum's face - as least Dianne looks happy.

Plum is very affectionate and loving. She cuddles up with me at night or on a chair. I just don't ever pick her up. All the rest of the cats love to be picked up.

Here is Donnie scratching Firefly's head.

Donnie and Dianne have ordered a male kitten. New kittens will be here in the early spring.

Laura Lee Carrier came to visit

Laura Lee and her husband came to visit on the   weekend. We had a great chat. Their son, Spencer was in a hockey tournament here. She loves the cats.

Hmm ... perhaps in the spring!

my new Cymbidium orchid!

I love it. It was less than $22 at Wal-Mart last week. It had just come in to the store and the whole pallet of them were in stellar condition!
