**Children and Cats

My rule is that no one under sixteen years old may "pick up" a kitten or cat. If a child wants to play with my cats, the child must sit on the floor and the cat must come to them. This gives the kitten an opportunity to leave if the kitten is not enjoying the playtime. The kitten may not enjoy playtime if the kitten is hungry, needs to use the litter box, is tired, or does not want to play.

The new kitten will be the best friend of a child only if the child does not pick up the kitten. The kitten will follow the child everywhere and cuddle and play.

As well, the kitten should have a private place to go where the kitten has no interaction with any person. Freia and Boccelli use my bed as their private area, Sarah Brightman has a lounge chair in the hall that is just for her and Natalie Dessay likes the top of an old pine trunk. Tangerine and Plum have a cat tree and a wicker house in the bathroom window. Firefly likes to hang out with me at all times!
