Your cat or kitten is not allowed to go outside ever. Having said that trips and car travel are okay. My adults have driven with me to Florida for a three week vacation, stayed at the Prince Edward Hotel in Charlottetown for a week and stayed in a cabin at White Point Beach Resort in NS. They love the car. I always transport them from the house to the car in a cat crate for safety. I am careful to stay in hotels where the room door opens to a hallway and not to the outside.
My adult cats have a small wire enclosed cat deck outside my bedroom window. It is 26" by 40". They love to watch passersby, and the trees and gardens. I have a new soft crate for my cats. It looks like a canvas gym bag (but has a top zipper and black mesh sides, and a shoulder strap).
Your kitten is litter trained. I use several litter boxes while my kittens are little. They are like small children in that they play until the last minute and then are in a rush to get to the litter box. I keep one in my kitchen, bedroom, hall and bathroom so they don't have far to go. Please use a shallow pan so the kitten can climb in easily. I use corningware type lasagna pans (now you know why I never eat lasagna). If you have an adult cat already in your home, please put the kitten's litter pan in a cardboard box with a small door cut out for a door. This will keep your adult cat from using the kitten's litter box. As your kitten gets older the litter pan can get larger. My adult cats use only the covered litter box in my bathroom. I use clumping litter and I scoop the litter whenever I go by. 'Cat Science' is an excellent clumping litter but is hard to find.
